At the very core of American civic life and tradition is the idea of limited government. This predominant value is what was forged not too far east of us, in Philadelphia, in the Summer months of 1787. This value is wholly American, and it’s wholly Pennsylvanian. This is the great classic “republican ideal,” one of self-rule. The notion that less government, not more, is the best way to foster freedom, prosperity, innovation, and blessing.
